Learn more about the insurance cover available for affiliated clubs through the AusCycling National Insurance Program.

Public and products liability insurance solutions

This insurance can help protect clubs against the financial risk of being found liable to a third party for death or injury, loss of or damage to property or ‘pure economic’ loss resulting from your club’s negligence.

Personal accident insurance solutions

This insurance is designed to help offer some peace of mind to members, participants, volunteers etc. of your club by having protection for costs related to an injury sustained whilst involved in activities sanctioned by AusCycling.

Professional indemnity insurance solutions

This insurance can help protect clubs against allegations of incorrect advice, breach of professional duty or negligence from a third party.

Scope of cover

This policy provides cover for affiliated clubs, including staff, volunteers and officials that are held liable for a negligent act that results in property damage or bodily injury anywhere in the world.

Limit of liability

The cover provided is up to a maximum of $20,000,000.

Excess

There is a $1,000 policy excess. The defending party is responsible for the payment of the excess and will not be paid by AusCycling unless otherwise agreed.

Scope of cover

 

The scope of cover varies according to membership level. 

Policy benefits are available to all registered members, volunteers and officials for any injury occurring during bike riding and voluntary trail building activities, 24 hours a day.

Accident & Health International Underwriting Pty Limited.

 

 

Non-Medicare medical benefits

Reimbursement up to 85% of Non-Medicare medical costs, up to a maximum of $7,500 per injury.

Excess

$75 excess applies to each injury. Nil excess applies if you claim on a private health fund.

Death and permanent injuries

  • Death: Up to $50,000
  • Funeral Expenses: Up to $10,000
  • Permanent Total Disablement: $100,000
  • Paraplegia/Quadriplegia: $100,000
  • Other Benefits (e.g. loss of sight, fingers, hearing etc): Variable percentage (%) of $100,000 based on the loss as outlined in the policy schedule.

Loss of income

85% of your income up to a maximum of $500 per week (whichever is the lesser).

 

Excess

There is no benefit claimable for the first 28 days that you are away from work as a result of injury.

 

Scope of cover

This policy provides indemnity to clubs in the event they are held liable for an error or for providing incorrect advice which results in injury or property  damage to a third party.

Limit of liability

The cover provided is up to a maximum of $20,000,000.

There is a $1,000 excess for all claims. The defending party is responsible for the payment of the excess and will not be paid by AusCycling unless otherwise agreed.

Frequently asked questions

This insurance cover applies when members and other insured persons/entities are involved in activities that are sanctioned by AusCycling. These

activities include races, organised training (including individual training), meetings, fundraising activities, voluntary trail building and social rides and travel to and from these activities.

Generally, the following expenses are not covered under the personal accident policy:

  • Doctor’s fees

  • Anaesthetist’s fees

  • Surgeon’s fees 

  • X-rays

The medical benefits schedule (MBS) lists all treatments and associated rebates relating to Medicare.

You can access the MBS at any time by Medicare’s website. Items commonly used by sports participants that are Medicare listed can include general practitioners, surgeons and an anaesthetists.

Non-Medicare expenses which are incurred within 12 months of the bodily injury are able to be claimed. In cases where there is no Medicare component to the Ambulance expense, this expense incurred within the scope of cover is able to be reimbursed at 85% up to $7,500 per claim.
