Why is insurance for audio visual and lighting engineers important?

Audio visual and lighting engineers are pillars of the entertainment industry. Whether you work on events, concerts, conferences or stage shows, insurance can help you in several ways.

For example, if someone gets hurt due to improper installation, public liability cover can help with the financial impact of a claim for an injury to a third-party or damage to their property.

The right policy – arranged by industry experts – can cover these risks and more.

What insurance should audio visual and lighting engineers consider?

Public liability

Public liability insurance helps protect you against claims made by a third party – like a performer or venue operator. It can help cover the costs for an injury to a third-party or damage to their property (including legal fees).

Professional liability

Lighting engineers can be liable for their lighting designs and recommendations if a poorly lit stage results in a performer injury. Professional liability can help cover potential legal costs and damages.

Business interruption

Sudden equipment failure, natural disasters and extreme weather can all bring your recording studio to a halt. Business interruption cover can help with expenses and lost income if the unexpected happens.

Frequently asked questions

A public liability policy can respond to claims for damage to third-party property, not your own. If you need to protect your sound and lighting gear, consider equipment insurance, which you can get in just a few minutes (up to $30,000 sum insured).

We offer three insurance products to cover a wide range of sound and lighting engineers.
